Meet Bill
William R. Levasseur, Jr. “Bill” has been practicing Estate Planning and Administration, as well as Family Law, since being admitted to the Bar in 1987. As of counsel with Wasserman White, he will now be focusing his practice on estates and trust planning, estate administration, and applying his nearly 40 years of experience resolving family disputes through his Mediation and Collaborative practices.
After litigating family law and estate cases for over 20 years, Bill became interested in alternative ways of resolving disputes amongst family members and married persons. In March 2008, he completed the requisite training and became certified to practice in the area of Collaborative Law, after having completed his mediation certification in 2000. While continuing to offer his services for trial, Bill strongly believes that a meaningful discussion of alternatives to the litigation process is a good place to start with clients. If the client’s matter is well suited for either Mediation or the Collaborative process, there are good reasons to consider them.
Bill is a member in good standing of both the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association. He is also a long-standing member of the Family Law and Estates and Trusts Committees of the Baltimore County Bar Association, as well as the Family Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. These affiliations are essential to keeping current on changes in Statutes, Rules and cases impacting Estate and Family Law issues, as well as maintaining collegial relations with other practitioners, and advancing the improvement of justice and fairness in family disputes.
Since April of 2016, Bill has proudly served as a co-liaison to the Family Division of the Baltimore County Circuit Court, volunteering his time to serve as a link between the Family Law Practicing Bar and the Family Law Division of the Court. During that time, his position has entailed working with the Judges and Family Division Department Heads to implement the new electronic filing policies and procedures with the practicing Bar, and helping the Bar navigate the many challenges to the justice system brought about by the Covid pandemic. Since 2019, Bill has also chaired the Family Law Committee’s annual Case Law and Legislative Update Program.
